Margot’s childhood was spent growing up in Williamstown, a bayside suburb of Melbourne. After moving to Kuranda, Far North Queensland to live for over twenty years, she began her art studies at Cairns TAFE College in the early 1990s. Eventually moving to Albury, NSW to complete a Diploma of Visual Art at Wangaratta TAFE College and then a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga, NSW. Returning to Williamstown after 30 odd years she completed a Post Graduate Diploma in TESOL at Victoria University.
Having been involved in around forty group exhibitions and several successful solo shows, Margot’s work features in Grafton Regional Art Gallery’s collection in addition to public and private collections throughout Australia.
She has taught for over 25 years at TAFE, Community Education Centres in Qld, NSW and Vic., and in Vietnam. Now, happily settled in Iluka, NSW, she currently teaches Art privately and conducts workshops in her home studio.
Margot’s work has always been influenced by her travels and being in the landscape. A playful, painterly approach and an instinctive understanding of various art elements often reflect her thoughts and feelings.
